John,
According to our news back here in Washington State you are buried in two plus feet of SNOW. I hope you are dug out and able to get around, and more important then that is your shop heated? If we were to get that much snow here it would shut everything down here, we only get an inch or two and it melts the same day.
Take care and be careful !!!! Let us know how you are coping with the white stuff......

If you're not digging out it would be a great time to stay in and make some sawdust...
We have had vitually no snow or cold weather this year however, all good things come to an end... It is 40 above today and by Friday, predictions say we could be at 20 to 25 below zero with the high of 5 below
too bad I can't stay in... I'll probably be on the airwaves telling everyone else to stay in and stay warm....
should be working on projects... working on the third floor of 5 floors of the Iowan Clock

We haven't heard from JT yet. I also heard that some areas were without power. Hope he wasn't affected with that......
Just remember that there is a second byproduct of scrolling. The first is dust and the second are scraps (and stuff we screw up). Can you spell FIREWOOD????

Snow Snow go away
Thanks guys for asking.
Yes I am still here and yes we got hit hard. This winter has been so weird. Dec was one of the coldest and snowiest then Jan was the third warmest and now this snow was a record for the day. The good thing was it happened on a weekend and the roads were clear for the most part yesterday. With todays temps climbing back to mid 40's the roads will be just fine. The next 2 days temps are suppose to hit 55. Then the weekend suppose to get really cold again but not 5 below hopefully. There will be alot of melting but that usually leads to more problems. Go figure. There were no power outages in my area which was a good thing. But the only power outage was in my body. I have a snow blower and all that stuff but still you have places to shovel and pushing the snow takes it out of you. Well Sunday I was doing my place and then Monday I had to go do my parents place. So the shop time was nill I was just too tired to even think of sawing anything. I am off from work this week so maybe I can sneak some shop time but with my father being ill that is not a guarentee. That is why at least I have the internet to relax with. One thing about snow storms is they drain the township funds and they are talking they are out of money so the next storm will cost us more in taxes. Spring is around the corner. I think the next time that groundhog sticks his head out someone should shoot it.

sorry, but down here in Georgia we never get snow so I think it could be fun to have around for a few weeks just for the snow days at school alone!! But please be safe, I would be stuck in a hole without your advice. :) :)

Sorry things have been bad there. Here in Texas things haven't been good either, but bad on the other end of the stick. It has been HOT and DRY. I live out in the country and worried about the 200+ acres of woods catching on fire. Our cattle farmers have started selling off their herds because they are running out of hay. We have gotten a little rain in the past few weeks but when the rain stopps the wind stats blowing and drys everything back out. My fruit trees are starting to bud out. (not good in Feb.)

It is amazing what a couple of days with 55 degree temperatures can do to 2 feet of snow. This winter has really been weird and now they say it is suppose to get really cold again this weekend.
Crolf is seeing the other end of the spectrum and hear it is pretty bad. Hate to see what your summer is going to be. This may have something to do with Global warming and maybe people are not that wrong after all. Well we have no control over the weather so we have to deal with it.

JT -- I hope you don't get as cold as we are. Zero this morning with a forecast of -20 degrees tonite... our warming trend should start next week...
as they say at the Air Force Base north of town
Only the best come north and 41 below keeps the riff raff out...

Joe - I can tell ur just a pup - we do get snow here in Georgia - you just haven't been around long enough. 2" around here will shut the place down.
Dave - had a chance to get stationed at Minot and turned it down. Guess ur right about keeping the riff raff out - kept me out didn't it ! ! !
JT - global warming??? Dave do you agree???? We better be careful because some folks already believe that global warming is Bush's fault

Dave
I am sure it will never get anywheres that cold. We have alot of hot air flying around here if you know what I mean.
Fred
Global warming maybe it will wake the dinaseurs up. HA HA Imagine REX getting up and wondering what happened to his buddies. Someone will have to tell them they went up in smoke. :)

Yea but you are in Canada and you are suppose to have snow. Winter and no power now that is not a good combination. No woodworking, no forums, no TV.

Nice and warm down here- 60 degrees was the high today and it may get warmer this weekend(we have a 4-day weekend from school = lots of scrolling :) )
I do have some faint memories of the ice storm we had around a few years back. People down here think that 1/4 inch of snow is enough to close everything down. I do remember some snow, but can't imagine having a 3-4 feet of it. The no power thing is a bit scary for some of us younger "pups". Our lives basically revolve around electricity; mainly cd. players and the cordless phone!

Talking about weird weather check this out
High today 82
Low tonight 36
High tommorrow 42
Low tomorrow night 30 + chance of freezing rain
We have a saying about Texas weather. "If you don't like the weather stick around it will change in a few hours"

Officially this morning we are at 23 degrees below zero.... things are back to normal for this time of the year in North Dakota....
I've seen 50 degree fluctuations in temperatures here in the past... I would rather have a foot of snow over 20+ degrees below zero... at least with a lot of snow you are able to function and get around.... sub zero temps cause lots of things to break down.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm interesting weather reports . One of these days I will have to come up out of my basement workshop and and see what kind of weather we are having . Its normally nasty here in upstate NY so I will probably do it in early April .
