Has anyone had problems with the newer DW788 with blades being "to short"??
Does anyone have a remedy or should I return for refund and buy a Delta or another make.

Yes there is a problem with the newer type #2 saws that are made in taiwain. The wedge shaped cam in the back of the saw that controls the tension is manufactored to the wrong specs. Dewalt knows about it and I assume are working on it to correct the problem. As for the many that are out there now that have this problem the best thing to do is contact Dewalt or a sevice center and speak to them. It has become a very big issue and is causing a blackeye for Dewalt. If you want to see the problem and read a little more about it you can go to Rick Hutcheson's site and he has some pictures under Dewalt repairs. While there you can get some good info about this saw and others for maintenance things. http://www.scrollsaws.com/SawReviews/DewltTuneUp.htm

Don't give up on the saw just yet but do contact Dewalt and see what their cure is going to be.
