Avatars

Does anyone know what is going on with these avatars on here. it wont let me add a personal avatar or even one of the cheesy ones from here. I feel naked without one.

First of all I know there was a problem with the old system and not sure if this has been corrected. But with that said there are things you need to know. First to add any avatar you need 25 post or more. Then to add a personal avatar you need 100 posts or more. Crankbrook I seee you have 118 posts so this should have kicked in. To add a personel avatar you need to go to the contol panel, click on "edit avatar" on the left side. Now scroll down past the cartoons and see if there is the custom avatar box there. If so then you should be able to upload yours. You ned to scroll back to the top of that page where it says your current avatar and a box that says "do not use avatar" Make sure that is unclicked. Now scroll down past cartoons and where is says "use custom avatar" click that. Now scroll down and find your avatar on the computer and upload but it must be 50 X 50 pixels or 19.5KB which is quite small. If too large it will not upload. Click submit and you should be good.

Now if you want to use one of the one supplied you need to do just the opposite I said. Unclick custom avatar and click on use avatar. Hope this helps. I was able to load my scroll saw again so I know it works.

Just to reinterate from an earlier post he may be having the same problem as me where the custoom avatar option is not showing up on the edit page.

Hi John , like Dennis said it is not showing up. i put a green dot on (do not use an avatar ) then click save changes but thats it nothing else comes up.
i also noticed that Freds picture is gone. i,m not sure if he did that or something else did. it's a mystery to me. i can barely sleep at nite thinking about it.

i also just tried to put an avatar from here on and they are not showing up.

I see you have a Avatar cartoon picture that came up. You haven't looked better in years. :) If you do not have the add personal avatar box at the bottom then the system is not letting you do it. I am sorry but I do nt have the software to help you. That has to come from the administrator whomever that is. They may read this and help you out.

Avatars are those pictures you see in the corner by your sign in name. I happen to have a picture of my favorite scroll saw the RBI.

Has anyone besides me noticed that 90% of the avaters are from little kid tv shows? Why cant we have avaters from good old fashioned comic strips? I just chose mine, which is definantly Odie the dog from the Garfield comic strip. But I guess my point is that, unless you want to look like a six year old, its nearly impossible to find an avater that describes ME. I guess this could be just a dumb thing to complain about, but I figured that while we had a thread on avaters I might as well jump on my first chance to complain :D ;)

Make your own - make it YOU - all you have to do is conform to the size limitations and picture type and upload it to the forum.

Then, you can be you for all the world to see :cool:

On every page you will see a brown line just below your Private messages and Welcome sign at the top of the page. Where it says "User CP" which stands for control panel, click on that. On the left side you will see a list of items you can edit and one of them being your avatar. Click on it and follow instructions. There is also a F&Q button up there also. If you click on that it will give you alot of facts for questions about this site. Can be very helpful.
