Glad I saw your post. I've been looking for a site like this for some time. It's relitive simple to make the craft but kind of trickie selling it, whether on line or in-person , at a craft fair, THANKS A BUNCH

Did my first one for the year . in wisconsin. very slow. we payed the booth fee, and the gas . it was a three and a half hour drive.endded up makein about a 100.00$ after expences. not good fo a seven hour show, a lot of people packed up two hours early. I hope they stick to there word and not let them back next year. I had a few sales right at closing. well hope it will pick up at the next one.or it will be a long summer. Just finished with a Street Fair ... happened to be in my neighborhood and on the street next to my house.... (not far to go)
It was a one day show on Saturday... I decided Friday night to use two of my garage stalls to set up as the weather was raining.... Good thing as Saturday had rain all day long.... invited 3 other crafts people to join me in the garage... a jewelry maker, photographer and painter.... About 1/2 of the craft people scheduled to display and sell did not show due to weather and the traffic was way down.... weather was rainy and a cool 51 degrees....
Sold a bit of stuff... two special orders and new people who checked out my products....
Over all .... all things considered it wasn't a total loss
New clocks and wildlife products in the works...
Pictures to follow

OK Chuck you are on my do not talk to list also along with Fred. Retired?????????? I am just plain tired can't get retired. Just kidding fella. Good for you, you earned it. What is nice you found a hobby that is both rewarding and satisfying. That is when I am ready in seven years ( unless I hit the lottery) I too will have a hobby that I will enjoy for many years to come. I feel sorry for those who have never cut a piece of wood or made something from wood. They do not know what they are missing. To all retirees I salute you!!!!!

And us retirees thank you "workin" folk for your continued financial support ;)  :) :) :D
;)
Well Fred, since I'm currently un-employed, I've been getting ready for my retirement by setting up my craft business. In-between my honey-Better-do list projects , I've been developoing a line of toys, gifts and other wood STUFF. So pretty soon I'll be with you RETIRED guys, making saw-dust all over the place. I've done a couple of local shows as OPAS WORKSHOP, translated as GRANDPAS WORKSHOP, and have done pretty good. So I guess I'm hooked on the show circuit!!!!!!!

Being 52 means I've got a long way to go 'til retirement, but there probably won't be any money left after the "older" folks here get done with it!
Like JT, I play the lottery too, and just missed retirement last November.
I've got a craft show this Saturday at a benefit Gospel Fest. The promoter didn't do a very good job of getting crafters. There's going to be two of us with booths. My wood stuff and a guy who does leatherwork. All of my items have been geared towards the attendees - crosses, plaques, keyrings made out of Olivewood from Bethlehem, etc. I hope I get a few sales. The upside is the booth space was free, but I'm going to donate a part of my sales.

OPA1, Dont count on getting rich, just be glad you get back booth fees and gas cost, and mat. you mite make a little left over for tool up keep. but it keeps you busy. and you get to do what is fun. I do it for the enjoyment because there isnt any money in it . lots of luck. and let us know how it went.
Chuck :) ;) :o :p

When I first started to do woodcrafts,I new from the start you won't get rich on the fairs circuit. I treat the bussiness as a suppliment to my retirement, when that happens, and if I make a lot at one show thats alright with me, if not ok too. I doo all of my woodworking because I enjoy it. If it becomes to much of A JOB and isn't fun then I stop it.
