Does anyone know of a good book or have any advice to tell me before I attempt to make a box on my scroll saw. I have the plans for a Celtic Knot box which I will try making soon. Any advice???

There are only two golden rules when it comes to box making. It does not matter weather the corners are flush or mitered but the first rule is "straight cuts". The second rule is "the opposite side of any side must be the same length" To do this with the best chance for success is to use a tablesaw or miter saw, or radial arm saw. You will not get good crisp edges on a scrollsaw no matter how good at cutting a straight line you are. You can add fret work into the sides with a scrollsaw. If you do want a book you can go to the library and look for basic box making or go to any book store and you will find many books about box making. Good luck and if more info is needed please write.

I actually was trying to make a box where it is all from one solid piece, you glue pieces of wood together to form a piece 1 inch thick(or thicker) and then you drill an entry hole in the middle and cut out the inside and are left with one solid box with no end pieces.like here (http://www.wildwooddesigns.com/prodinfo.asp?number=53105&aitem=11&mitem=97&dept=235)

Joe those boxes are cut like any other scrolled piece except they are a thicker piece of wood. Your saw will tell you how thick piece you can cut. There again proper tensions right blade, and slow down the cutting so not to burn your wood. Good luck and look forward to seeing the results. Please post a picture.
