I have made several pens from corian mostly using scraps and off cuts that have been given to me by kitchen fitters that have been working on some of the sites I've worked on.
I am looking for a regular supply of corian for my pen making and also for another woodturning project I have an idea for.
Can anyone help in either the supply or does anyone know how to manufacture the material.
Any information would be greatly apreciated.

DuPont, the maker of Corian, will not sell the product to anyone who has not been trained in their product' safety and installation. Dealers and wholesalers are held to this restriction. It has to do with the honest-to-God nasty nature of the counter top glue (adhesive?) installers use. There is a lot of mistakes that can be made when joining up two slabs on a counter top causing the top not to be water tight.
The generic term for the product is Nairoc, for which there are several makers of similar products. Try this web site http://stonewood.safeshopper.com/?502
Aside: Corian as you know is heavy, shipping charges will be very high.
Go to Office Depot or some such place, and look for Avery Business Card blanks for Computer Printers. Make some cards yourself, that boldly state you buy Scrap Corian for hobby supplies and you are looking for kitchen sink cutouts. Pass out to Kitchen Cabinet builders in your area. Expect to pay about $18.00 per square foot. Just remember the retail price is $22.00 to $27.00 per square foot. If you get it cheaper, all the better.

The sink cutouts are doubled up and made into cutting boards for the customer to use instead of cutting on the top. They are to keep this in case there is some bad damage to the top in which the cutting board is used to make the patch or repairs. Any good kitchen cabinet dealer has a Corian dealer they work with and can put you in touch with a top shop. Corian is about the same price per foot as granite for tops. It is solid surface and can be repaired for almost any damages. It is extremely heavy and would be costly to ship I would think. Lukcon

I have another box of 52 pieces on its way to me . Two each of 26 colors . Works out to 36 cents per pen including S/H .
Wonderful stuff for low end pens and I drill dead center fom one end to the other of the 1/2" blanks.

What kind of quanaties are you looking at and what colors? Talked to owner of local top dealer and he will have supply every week but can't tell colors to have or exact amounts at this time. I will try it for a while and see if it works out. He said there will be several 6x6 some as big as12x12 and down to triangles. Lucon

Hello Luke,
Love the idea we have another pen turner joining us and hope this is the beginning of great things to come. Pen turning has become very popular with the invention of mini lathes and many more companies jumping into the mix. There are many sources for tools and materials and kits. I like that you have opened the door again to corian turning. I just wanted to point out some of the posts you are replying to are about 4 years old and those people have moved on. So if you do not get a response from them do not be alarmed and think we are standoffish here. Farthest thing from the truth. But with you opening the door again to turning this material we may get some more pen turners jumping in. Another little situation is that we are undergoing a sserver change and some of the regulars have strayed but will be back for sure so chatter will pick up over time. Glad to have you and look forward to seeing photos of your work.
