Does anyone know where I can get, in Canada, a screw chuck or a jaw chuck for my mini wood lathe. The connections are #1 MT and 3/4-16.
Thanks

I have a Oneway Stronghold, 4 jaw chuck that also has a screw attachment that fits into the jaws. I like it very much. I'm pretty sure they sell inserts for the chuck so it will fit your lathe. Oneway is a Canadian Company and makes excellent quality lathes and attachments to lathes. Do a search on a search engine and see if you can find their website. I'm sure they have one. Give them a call and ask what retail stores in your area sell their wares or just order directly from them.

If you are willing to use mailorder, You can get a Nova Compac chuck for about US $68 from www.woodturnerscatalog.com (UTAH, USA). These are lighter in weight and put less strain on the smaller motors that are found in the mini and midi lathes. I have a Compac chuck for my Delta Midi Lathe, and it works fairly well. I don't think the Compac has the same holding power as the Oneway, or as the VicMarc that I have on my bigger lathe but on the smaller lathe I haven't found that to be a problem. It comes in the 3/4 x 16tpi configuration you need.
