These Tea lights have got to be one of the easiest things to make on a lathe and they are also a fast seller at craft sales.
I made these this morning from scratch to finished.
Now it's outside work all afternoon which isn't near as much fun as turning but it has to be done while the weather is still good.

I sell them as a sure thing of covering my display area expenses. They go real fast at $9.95 each. It only takes a couple hours to turn that many so $50.00 for a few hours work isn't bad. That wood is cedar and it turns like butter. It came out of my firewood pile so cost next to nothing. The Tea light inserts cost 4¢ each in 100 lots from the dollar store to it's mostly all profit.
At that price a fellow can include a couple extra candles to clinch a sale ;)
Of course if a person had to buy the wood for them, they would probably have to charge more.
I will be making at least 20 more of those before the November/December craft sales.

I have made some big ones with oil filled confetti lamps in them and using better woods.
Pictured below on left is a large one using birdseye maple and black walnut.
I only had enough of those woods to make three and I sold two at $69.00 each and my wife won't let me sell the third one. :( It sits on our oak coffee table.
The small one on the right is cherry and I get $19.00 to $39.00 for those depending on the wood and the size. That is just a little $19.00 one.
For the confetti lamp ones I also include a spacer so the confetti lamp can be removed and a Tea lamp candle put in it's place. A lot of people don't like messing around with oil to fill them so I have discontinued using the confetti lamps and just use tea lamp candles now.

My pictures sure don'tdo justice to the beauty of that birdseye maple.

Between those little lamps and spurtles, those are my two fastest selling and easiest to make craft sale items.

Very nice... Gives me an idea what to do with the load of cherry and red cedar a friend just gave me. :)
