Hi Gang;
I have a limited quantity of thin hardwood available in 4 species and 3 sizes- ideal for laser cutting/engraving projects. Wood available is Hard Maple, Cherry, Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba), and Walnut. All wood is 5.75 inches wide and has been cut by an industrial resaw machine with consistent thickness of 5/32"-very fine, negligible saw marks-some have been rough sanded and balance require light run through drum sander or fast pass with random orbit sander. I use some of this for ornaments and do no sanding. Contact me by email for pics and complete pricing-a 5.75 x24" piece of walnut is $1.60
A sample pack of one each 12" size is available, including shipping anywhere in continental USA, for $10.
Best regards;
George

Since this is your very first post I will treat you as a person looking only to sell stuff rather than a person of woodworking interest. Therefore, no thanks and goodby.

I am going to have to agree with the others on this matter. It is not we are not interested in scroller's wood but we have had too many people come to this site and throw up ads for their sites and merchandice. This is not what we are about here. We are not a billboard. With that being said you are welcome to join in the conversations and tell us if you truely are a woodworker and what you like to do. If you would have started this way and worked your site in where it fit then the objections would not be warrented but as you chose to make your first post an ad you can now see our point of view. We do not need or want people like this.

Three of the 26 individuals who viewed my post have expressed concern regarding the nature and motivation of my post and the effect that it, and similar posts may have on the sanctity and purity of this forum. I certainly understand the basis for their concern and wish to clarify a few things.
I am a retired engineer who has been an avid woodworker since I was given a piece of pine and a coping saw almost 70 years ago in the orphanage at the age of 6. I currently keep active with a small laser woodworking business in upstate New York (see www.laserarts.net , and click on Unique in the heading for woodworking examples) and primarily utilize my time and equipment to support local and national non-profit organizations such as Aspire, MADD and Women Against Breast Cancer- providing them with laser cut/engraved nametags, magnets, etc. I also do some commercial laser engraving and cutting for a profit to supplement my retirement income. Recently, I was fortunate to be able to purchase a quantity of resawn wood in four species from a local flooring manufacturing company. It is excellent quality clear wood of very consistent thickness-ideal for laser cutting or scrollsawing. I have more than I can use and have offered it to scrollsawers and laser users on several forums at very good prices.
That being said, I guess I missed the rule on this forum which states that you have to prequalify as a "woodworker" in order to post. I also missed the rule which states that the first post can't be something for sale. I guess I also missed understanding the purpose of the Trading Post sub-forum. I also thought people would like to know where they can find various materials or be alerted to buying opportunities.
We are fortunate to live in a great country which allows us to have unparalleled (and often unappreciated) freedoms-many of which don't exist in other countries. I know, I've lived overseas in many of them. Because of these freedoms, I respect the rights of the above 3 individuals to express their concerns and even act as self-appointed policemen for this forum if that gives them some sense of self accomplishment.
However, I really don't want to contribute or participate in any forum which requires me to post my resume or promotes unreasonable retraints on reasonable activite. Please remove me from the membership list.

Now there you go. I tried to be diplomatic about it. I also explained the reason the tone was taken. Yes this site is open to the public. But it is run by Steebar Corp. Now any link that gets put on here to someone's site that is selling a product of any kind deserves a recipricol link back to Steebar's site. Don't you think??? Now also as I explained we are a small friendly bunch in spite of what you made out of a couple postings. We like to get to know who we are dealing with. We have had in the last few weeks people come to this site and the only post they make is an advertisement for their product. Like I said this is not, not a billboard. All you had to do was take the time to post just what you did and told us a little bit about what you are about. Then mentioned you had this wood and would like to offer it to others. Was that too much to ask.??? As far as being a policeman on this site you have joined and as it seems you have not been following it so I won't go into it but if you want to PM me I would be glad to explain in detail.
I am sorry this went the way it did and you are welcome to stay and contribute and I hope you do follow through with the ones that showed interest and any others that follow. Do not take the words spoken here deter from that. Not much more I can say and hope you continue with the good work you are doing. We have others here that are involved with charity organizations and they tell us the good feelings they get from these doings. Best of luck to you.

I also feel bad about how you took it ,but after geting hit for the last two weeks of spam on this site, I can get very furstated, Also the word lazzer brings a sore spot to mind, I have seen some very good scrollsaw people put out of bussness because of lazer cut work. Nothing hand crafted there, We have in wisconsin at least got art show and craft show promoters ban their work. It doesnt take a talent to do lazzer work.Just enough money to buy the machine I for one have not looked at your site or do I ever intend to, even tho I buy alot of thin wood. This site is intened for woodworkers not people looking for free addvertiseing . :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

OK
Let me try to put something to rest here. I have gotten a PM from George and he says he can see our point of view and things got a little hay-wired. I explained in more detail of our recent problems and tried to explain what we are about here. I explained we are a small group that looks out for one another and this is a good thing and no malice is ment by what was posted. Now if you read his little bio he is a true woodworker for quite some time and the use of his laser is not as we know it. I hope things are at least calmed down and maybe he can explain his woodworking and use of his laser more to us. There maybe some things we can learn from each other. I think he also said if the interested parties of his wood are still interested he will communicate with them. Thanks all for reading.

JT- I appreciate your efforts and explanations and, as I said, understand some of the forum issues you have had to deal with here. I also thank you for your support and attempts to calm this down, but I'm afraid to have your work cut out for you. I have never seen this type of narrow-mindedness, intolerance, and open hostility on any other forum.
After reading through some of your archives, I wondered why there wasn't more participation and real information sharing. After reading the diatribe from our friend from Wisconsin, I can understand why. In all my years I have never experienced such an intolerance and bitterness toward progress-and technology. Who would want to post anything here with really open-mided guys like that lurking around. I suppose I should take issue with him using a motorized scrollsaw (assumption) when he really should be cutting with a coping saw-a lot of my coping saw buddies have been put out of business because of those scrollsaw machines! (TIC)- damn this progressive world we live in.
JT- good luck and best wishes to all you normal guys out there- am sure you are in the majority.

I just read this thread today and am confused.
I've seen the spam postings and understand the anger. I even understand the anger against laser cutting. I've had people say that some of my work is laser cut.
George has offered us a pretty darn good price on some wood and even offered some advice on a motorized router lifter.
I just got 25 pieces of 1/8" from Memphis Harwood Lumber today, but I'm still tempted to check out George's wood. The price can't be beat and you can NEVER have enough wood.
Let's all count to 10 and see how this works out.

Thanks, Woodbutcher68, you have restored my faith in humanity and belief that rational behavior does indeed exist. For your efforts, you receive a free sample pack of the wood-send me your address via PM. Again-thanks

George, first I am not looking for any free wood, but a very nice gesture to the woodbutcher. I have infact reviewed your site and you have many nice projects. I want to commend you in all your volenteer work, I have opened my shop for the boy scouts to learn about tools and they actually help in making their own pull apart reindeer, they love it and it give me a great feeling as I am sure you get.
I also got a coping saw for Christmas about 53 years ago and I am sure that using it was a driver in keeping my interests in woodworking, I still have that saw and it will go to my grandson one day.
I do believe that lazer cutting and sccrollsawing are two totally diferent types of woodworking and I will stay with the scrollsawing. At the same time I say good for you for being retired and having this part time job for your gift of donating as well as selling some items for additional income.
Not to make this to long I want to thank both you and JT for your extensive communication to work the situation out. I hope to see you staying with this wood working forun, it really is a great place.
I will be ording some of your extra wood you have.

Hi Chris;
Thanks for your kind remarks. I love both traditional woodworking and "high tech" applications using the laser. Most of all I enjoy doing new projects, especially ones where people say "how did he do that?". But the very best feeling comes from doing something for someone who can use any help he/she can get. Will add some extras in your wood order.
Best regards;
George

Hi Dave;
I think we have worked the conflict out- was just not the kind of forum welcome I expected. Thw wood is not available on my site as I don't normally sell wood-see the first posting in this thread. Send me a PM with your email and I will send pics and prices.
Just figured I can get 40 pieces of 12" thins (5/32") in a flat rate USPS box and ship anywhere in continental USA for $10, so am offering 10 pieces of each species (40 total) for $30 plus $10 shipping.-offer good 'till we run out.
