Feeling really good too. Brought in over a thousand dollars in the last two weekends!!!!!
I added some Christmas ornaments this year, and they sold like hotcakes. They were priced anywhere from 3 to 6 dollars, and I sold all but a handful of them. Thanks to a tip I got from here, I came across a cheap fake Christmas tree after Christmas last year, and I used that to display them. I added some lights to the tree to help brighten things up.
25.00 for the table this weekend and 15 for last weekend, and I think I did really well.... now I gotta get some more blades!
Thanks to all for the tips and suggestions, along with the support. This is such a great site.... except... I sure miss JT.

I'll be heading for the second day of a two-day show in an hour. I've been using a three foot tree for a couple of years. It was actually the top of an artificial tree I found in the trash. Last year, my sister gave me a 6' artificial tree for Christmas and I've got about 100 ornaments on it.
I've got a guy across the hall selling ornaments for $1.00 each, mine range from $2.00-$8.00. He also has a lot of the same crosses I have for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. One shopper pointed this out to the woman in the next booth. I had already told the woman the difference between solid wood which I use and plywood, which he uses and she explained this to the shopper. I'm printing out the new signs as I type this. Sold $52.00 yesterday and should do better today as I just got a call from a woman wanting three of my $20.00 plaques. She's bought 6 of them so far.

Great going Deanna...
I know I learned something new from each show I did and the tips I picked up here were invaluable. My last two shows just about cleaned me out so I expect I'll be playing catch-up for the next few months...
The return on the investment is nice, but I'm beginning to miss when I was doing this for fun...

Well, I just finished the sping big craft show here in Minot...
Not near as busy as the same show last year... I was down about 40% from last year as were most of the regular vendors....
I do have 4 people that will be contacting me about special orders, so that will help
I took some pictures of the display but I have to download them off the camera....
I did get invited to the Minot Artfest.... This organization, The Minot Area Council of the Arts, has an invite show for artisits, not crafters.... maybe they realize that there is an art to creating something out of a piece of wood..
I will have to update my display and add some lighting as the premiere night is semi formal, wine tasting, silent auction and dimmed overhead lights to set the ambiance....

Well excuse us dusty old sawers. Are you going to have to rent a tux too??? :D Just kidding Dave. Good job and look forward to seeing your new displays. There is truth to the art factor in what we do. I guess it is in the eyes of the beholder. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I try to do more art shows than craft shows, If I get an app. that says art, craft and flee market, it goes right in the wood stove. At least at art shows people dont mind spending a little money, and they know what they are buying. :) :) :) :)

Hi Dave.
I just noticed your message also.
I was down about 40% from last year as were most of the regular vendors....
That seems to be normal for sales to be down in recent years . Could be due to the failing ecomomy in most areas . It has happened to me and many others and a lot of us are geting into more diversified forms of woodwoking where one compliments the other and that brings sales right back up to where they used to be.
It is early in the year and hopefully you will do better later on especially in the pre Christmas season.
Best of luck with your future sales.

Hopefully I won't need to rent a tux....
I'm not a suit and tie guy, much less a tux guy
I've got a while .... that show is the third week of September

Our first show of the year was somewhat of a bust. Outdoors, windy, cold with a forcast of nasty weather moving in. Very sparce "crowd". Most sales were to other vendors and show staff. Did make 10 time booth space though.
JT asked me to post pictures of booth, but, in an effort to save bandwidth, I made a web page of our setup. You can see it here:

I revived this thread because earlier in this thread I mentioned that I was invited to the local Artfest - an invite show for various artists...
I just did the show for the first time last weekend. I made my booth rent and a bit extra.
My observation is this: in this area - northwestern North Dakota, the average person is not able to distinguish between "arts" and "crafts".
The group that puts this on seems to put on "airs" about art. Many of the members of the organization had booths at the event. Many of these were, in my opinion, more on the craft line than art.
The first night was the "premiere" night.... $25.00 ticket to get in and wine and hors dorves, were free.... It was evident that most of the people attending were there to have wine and food.... not to purchase anything.
There were also 5 photographers selling.... and only about 25 booths.
May do it again next year... a lot of people saw my work for the first time as they had not been to any craft fairs

Good to hear you enjoyed yourself. I bet it was a different experience. At least you know you can rub elbows with the big boys now. :)
