Both came out of one piece of poplar out of my firewood pile.
In an earlier thread in my WWF site I mentioned about some poplar I have with worm holes in it. Pictures show front and back of each pice. The one on the right had a worm hole right through from one side to the other. I filled the hole with epoxy and brass glitter. Looks kind of unique up close and saved tossing it into the designer firewood box.

Also the one on the right looks like bad sanding lines up on the top. It is actually the pattern right in the wood that looks like what we often see in flame maple but I seldom see in poplar.

My photography skills are the pits but I might try to get a macro shot of the filled worm hole area. If it turns out I will post it. If it doesn't then I wont ;)

Really nice, Willy... What is the collar made out of?
Poplar was one of the first woods I tried turning and I was really surprised at what a great shine it took. All I've done with it is bottlestoppers so far but now you've given me ideas...

Thanks Gunny;

The collar is black walnut.

I managed to get a closeup of the filled wormhole. It is a little out of focus but good enough to make out how it looks.
