I have an oppertunity to purchase a scroll saw from a friend and know nothing about scroll sawing. I will post again once I have it at home and am ready to experiment. If anyone has a simple project to lend me to practice I would appreciate it greatly.

Wolf8u2:
You might check out the Scroll Saw Association of the World web page at <http://www.saw-online.com>. Click on Site Map then scroll down to Programs, then click on ACES. They have some pdf files of practice patterns and drills that can be downloaded for free.

Wolf just a note for the future and no big deal just that it might get more responses if you make scrollsawing related posts under the scrollsawing forum heading. This is the pen turning forum. Like I said no big deal but there are far more scrollers than turners here. I say to you congrads on the purchase and welcome to the very addictive world of scrolling. You better say goodbye to all the loved ones because once you set up the saw and have her purring like a kitten you will not want to leave the shop. Food must be ordered in and sleeping is an option. As far as practice patterns go google free patterns and there are alot of pattern companies that have basic free downloadable patterns. Also many people have started scrolling by taking things from coloring books and making them into patterns. Some just add a circle and you have a place for a clock. And you are off and running.
Now when you get the saw and you run into any problems just click here and you will get the answers for sure. Good luck and be prepared to have fun. remember the only limitation to your ability is you and your mind. :)

You can get lots of free starter patterns from

But you will have to join the site to get them.

Oops my bad I just found the scroll saw forum I will post as soon as i get the saw and get her purring(unless I am sucked into the scroll saw black hole). Thank you John for the info on saw patterns. I will join there and save it to my puter. I will also check out the msn forum (I haven't had much luck with their forums).

Just a short note: They don't require you to join to down load these files. :)
