I'm looking for a drill bit or router that will allow me to drill or create an adjustable degree groove. Another word, instead of a 90 degree groove on a piece of wood like this picture (http://www.spira-emi.com/images/spiraimages/Sh-fig1.jpg), I like to create something that is 45 degree groove. Is there such a tool? If so, please give me the name or perhaps a link to the product. Thank you so much!

OHMYGOSH

That is a cool sign on name. Welcome to the site. Glad you found us where we like to talk woodworking. You will find us to be a friendly bunch of sawdusters.

To your question, if I understand you you want to make a "V" groove. For that you need a "V" groove router bit. http://www.woodworkersworld.net/v_groove_bits.shtml Any company makes them and you can get them in any home center. The adjustability comes from using a plunge router and controlling the depth. They also make other degrees other than 45 degrees, such as 60 degrees. If this is not what you are looking for we need a better explanation of what you want to do. Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your response. I found this bit, (http://www.toolstoday.com/images/Product/medium/5837.jpg) but instead of the bit going inward or towards the center, I want the left side of the bit to tilt left. I want both sides of the bit to have slanted sides.

Not sure I followed what you wanted but I guess either the bit you posted or the one I posted should work. If not then we try again but need more info as to what you are after. Good luck. :)

Do you mean a dove tail bit??? Wide at the bottom and narrow at the top of the groove.

As John said, maybe this is what you are looking for. Thjis is a dovetail bit and comes in different sizes. Again any place that sells router bits will carry them. http://www.toolbarn.com/category/dovetailbits/

Why not make a carrying board to tip the board to the angle you want the grove to be, and then just use a stright bit the size you need. :) :) :) :)

Many thanks for all the responses. I'm looking for router bit with both sides slided either to the left or right. Here is a picture of the router bit (http://www.toolstoday.com/images/Product/medium/5837.jpg) that is close to what I'm looking for except instead the sides slanted inward or towards the center, I want the sides of the bit to both slanted to the left or right.

Ohmygosh...the sides of the bit when it turns changes the direction of the slant, when the slant is to the left on one side and rotates around to the other side it now slants to the right. :(

I wish I knew how to tell you how to post a drawing of the profile that the bit cuts in the wood. The only way I can think to do this is to draw the picture, photograph it, then post the image. Seems like a roundabout way to accomplish the task. Maybe a more knowledgeable member can explain to us a better way.

It has been said 'A picture is worth a thousand words'

I can certainly understand the frustration in trying to explain ones self to a blind person verbally without even the sense of touch to help him visualize the item.

Keep on explaining your needs and maybe soon one of us will see the light. Then be able to give you a possible way to accomplish the task, maybe the exact method or bit to produce what you visualize so clearly in your mind, but we are having difficulty seeing.
