I went to town today to try out the new farmers market / craft sale setup.

The wind was terrible but the pails of concrete worked well to hold my easy-up from being airborne.
Here is my little setup behind my pickup truck on a little fold up camping table. (Inside view)

And here is an outside view.

Got there by 8.00AM and set up and by ten o'clock . . no sale . Just a bunch of OOHs and AAH's . There were only 12 vendors there and some of us were thinking of packing up and leaving. A couple did and I stayed . Between 10.00 and 12.00 I sold $229.00 worth and the parking spot only cost $8.00 so I was happy to see it pick up . 4 of the 5 tissue box covers sold. The only one I brought home was the one with the church scene on it.
Some said it was too close to the end of the month to buy anything because the old age pension and welfare checks were not in yet. That just goes to show what a depressed area I live in. :-[
Sold a few bottle stoppers and pens and perfume applicators and secret compartment key chains and even sold my new Celtic knot pen right out of my pocket. OH Yes. . . I sold a pencil in a wood block as well for $8.00.
Just as an idea of the size of it and what a rip roaring crowd we had ;) , this is what it looked like 90% of the time. But I will probably try again next week if it isn't raining. It wasn't big but it was still worthwhile.

Long day in a beautiful setting, glad it worked out for you financially.

The Utah Woodturning Symposium wrapped up today -- also several long days in a beautiful setting. KathyD and I spent some quality time at CraftUSA here in Provo and did some really serious damage. We have spend the past few days with the likes of Raffin, Nish, Mortimer, Batty and others who author all of the how-to books the rest of us buy. Guess what, they are real people and make mistakes in addition to getting extraordinary results. Anyway seeing what they can do caused us to by all sorts of things that hopefully will turn into successful projects over the coming months. I'm looking forward to a 14 hour drive tomorrow followed by an 11 hour drive the next day in order to get home. It was definitely a worthwhile experience.

Actually it was only from 8.00 AM to 1.00PM and I was packed up and home shortly after 1.30.

I envy your trip to that turning symposium. Would love to go to something like that .
I am too far away to even check out a turning club so I am totally self taught along with tips I get on the internet.

I did a two day show this weekend,It was a four drive one way the only bad part, with the gas cost of 3.19 a gal.The crowd was down from last year, but they were buying things ,I even sold one of my black hawk helcoptors. I did really good ,I did better than the rule of thumb saying 10 times the booth fee.It was free motor home parking besides.I will Be back there next year .They even care about their venders. Two girls came by every hour with free ice water, and would watch your booth ,so you could use the rest rooms. there were a 100 venders there.had a great time. :) :) :) :)

Bill, we logged over 3200 miles of driving on this trip. There were people from all over the US, Canada, England, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. There may have been people from other places as well as those are just the homes of people we met.

Chuck, where was the show you referred to? Sounds like a show worth circling for future reference.

You'd like it. The attendence is limited to 500 people, so everyone is close to the presenters and there is extraordinary opportunity for Q&A. THe sessions basically went from 8:30 AM through 9:00 PM.
