Pop some popcorn and drop in. Join as at the Hands Online Sawdust Sessions. When done there, spend some time on the forum. Don't just stop by, stay awhile.

I sure would like to but when I first started out using computers online there were local BBS boards and I thnk it was an 300 baud rate modem on a Commodore 64, that was sloooooooow, now some years later I have an up to date computer with all kinds of memory, but with a dial up connection and a 56 K modem it is not fast enough to do the video conferencing thing and my lotto numbers lost again as usual!
I did try to view the videos of the previous sessions and all they do is hang so until they decide to put it on cd/dvd I'm out, I would rather spend the bucks on wood or tools than pay for dsl/cable if that makes any sense!

Dusty.
I have never seen a Shopsmith up close and always wondered about them.
Those videos were quite helpful to let me understand more about what the Shopsmith is. The videos loaded up and started playing almost instantly for me.
Quite interesting.
Thanks.

I too have seen the Shopsmith in use but never did take a liking to it and maybe because I am into individual stand alone tools but I wish you success with the forum and the use of that tool. I would hope maybe if there are enough users here they can get a talk going and show some of the things that can be done with this versatile tool.

JT,
I was also hoping for a little more discussion on the SS but I am now losing faith!
I do have most  stand alone tools except for a band saw, in fact I sometimes think I have too many.
I really like my SS, I do have the band saw, 6" belt sander, 4" jointer and other attachments with it, the jointer has never been used and I doubt if I ever will have a need for it since I have a nice 8" jointer that gets plenty of use!
Do you have a horizontal boring machine?, that is one of the greater features of the SS along with the ability to drill to the depth needed if you have a long enough bit.
I'll gladly answer any question on the SS but keep in mind I am still a little new with it but I am also impressed with using it.
Is it for everyone, maybe not but I sure do not regret buying one!

I don't know how to bring more Shopsmith activity to this site. What I can tell you is that there is plenty of discussion at:
http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/index.htm
Checkin there to see what the forum has to offer. You can even register there to become part of that forum as well.
I find that each of the forums has their own unique and interesting characteristics.
