I work in a prison and am looking for a supplier of craft wood for the Arts/Crafts Program. Prefer domestic woods, !/4"-1/2 inch depth by no more than 36" length. Width is optional. Does anyone know of a supplier? I joined the board specifically to ask this question so thanks for any response.

The best supplier of wood like you are discussing is Mellady Hardwoods (http://www.galaxymall.com/site/368259/page/61523)... I use them exclusively for all my hardwood scroll saw projects... Paul is good and will take care of his customers... and shipping is included in his prices on thin stock hardwoods....

Try Sloan's Woodshop. Excellent folks to work with, excellent prices.

Try saw-online.com for a list of thin wood suppliers. Paxton's wood store (in KCMO, Denver, Des Moines and others) also has several species. Hope this helps!
I would recommend www.woodworkerssource.com. They sell a lot of 4/4, 8/4 lumber but do have a lot of 'craft packs' and lots of turning squares, burls, etc. I have been buying from them for quite a while and have yet to be dissapointed. Their web page is very easy to get around. There are pictures and prices everywhere.
